Let's promote the very essence of who we are in Canada
By Fred A. Reed / iqra.ca
Could they, like many non-Muslim Canadians, have experienced feelings of anger at the sight of white men with guns patrolling the streets of dirt-poor Afghan villages? Of high-salaried NGOs handing out candy by day to the children who may well be bombed into oblivion by a US drone strike by night?

Loyality, Through the Eyes and Heart of a Candian Muslim
By Imam Dr. Zijad Delic /the Canadian Islamic Congress Friday Magazine
Being faithful and compliant to the laws of Canada and fulfilling my duties as a citizen do not make me more loyal to my homeland than to God. Neither God nor Canada demands exclusive loyalty. God requires that I worship none but Him, but does not prohibit loyalty to others outside the sphere of worship.

You either support high standards of justice or you don't. In the Khadr case, most Canadians, along with their government, do not. It's a national disgrace.

Canada's War on Islam: The Case of Mohamed Harkat
By Stephen Lendman /Countercurrents.org
Like in America post-9/11, Canadian Muslims have been victimized, vilified, and persecuted for their faith, ethnicity, prominence, and activism. Another horrible, obscene story from Guantanamo. But wait. We can't have this kind of publicity show in the Canadian press, can we? Not least when Khadr's own government will do nothing for him

A Child In Bagram And Guantánamo
By Andy Worthington /Andyworthington.co.uk
Too much about this story - from the trumped-up war crimes charges, to the doubts about Khadr's guilt, to his age and the abuse to which, on occasion, he was undoubtedly subjected - makes proceeding with the trial an unpalatable and essentially pointless exercise. It is, I believe, time, after nearly eight years, for his punishment to come to an end
